John Curtin Weekend

24 regional towns, over 300 volunteers, one goal - John Curtin Weekend is one of the fastest growing community service projects in WA.

John Curtin Weekend is run in conjunction with the John Curtin Medal Ceremony, which celebrates the appointment of John Curtin as Prime Minister of Australia on October 7, 1941 and acknowledges his qualities of vision, leadership and community service.

Project Coordinator Maureen Meredith said the John Curtin Weekend is planned each year by the student-run organisation Curtin Volunteers!.

"Curtin volunteers come together in the spirit of community to complete projects in country towns, from beautifying Margaret River's beloved Rotary Park to managing the running of one of WA's most famous horse racing events at the annual mighty Kulin Bush Races," Ms Meredith said.

"And for those who couldn't get away, we planned a metropolitan project to paint the premises of Foodbank in Welshpool".
