Weddings
Sue and Duane Joubert
Wedding bells.... With Sue (Prance) and Duanes Joubert's motorsport background, guests were required to meet at a location in Wilson and then follow instructions "rally style" to a secret location in the hills. Upon the way a quiz needed to be completed as well as a limerick about the couple. All guests arrived safely and on time, the bridal cars (race cars of course) however were stopped by the police in Kalamunda enroute (now that's another story!). The afternoon ceremony and reception were both held at the Packing Shed in Bickley.

Sue and Duane's bridal cars - interesting story!

Nerellie and Jeff
Nerellie Richards (Centre for International Health) and her fiancé Jeff were married on
4 November at the beautiful St Johns Lutheran Church in Northbridge. As hoped, the weather was absolutely perfect and only one plane from the Red Bull Air Race was heard during the ceremony! The reception was held at the Forrest Reception Centre in Perth, where guests enjoyed the balmy evening, food, great company and hand-picked tunes.

Kate and Andrew Smethurst
On Friday 30 November Kate Cashman (Careers) of Boston, Massachusetts and Andrew Smethurst of Bacchus Marsh, Victoria were married. The wedding took place at the historic Hawthorne Hotel in Salem, Massachusetts with just over 100 guests attending (including 21 Australians who made the trip!). The couple met in Perth in 2005 while Kate was doing a semester study abroad program at Curtin.
A honeymoon in Fiji is planned before Kate and Andrew settle back in Perth.

How far do you have to drive to get fresh Oysters?
Janet Pearce (Graduations) and husband Alan took off on 1 December to drive across the Nullarbor to the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia for a week of oysters, seafood and wine. Simply taking off with no accommodation booked in their antique Range Rover with an esky full of wine, pillows, blankets and a packet of biscuits, they hope to languish in the hospitality of the locals at Ceduna, Smoky Bay and Streaky Bay and enjoy the surf at Cactus Beach at Penong along the way. Watch this space to see how it all goes...

Cactus Beach is located 94 kilometres west of Ceduna. Cactus is a must visit for serious surfers. For the rest of us Cactus Beach is definitely an off the beaten track destination.
