Weddings

Shevaune Espinos (Quality & Reporting Unit) married Mark Robinson (ex-Curtin staff) on

6 November in a beautiful Balinese setting. The wedding was held at the Bali Mandira in Legian with 56 people attending from five different countries! (Australia, UK, Canada, Dubai & Switzerland).

The day before the wedding they held an Australia vs The World beach cricket match, with Australia winning resoundingly (although slight cheating may have been involved).

After the wedding day celebrations Mark and Shev headed to Lembongan Island for their honeymoon, which is just off the east coast of Bali.

They are both now in the process of packing all their belongings and getting ready to head off on a 4WD Australia tour extravaganza in the New Year. We wish them all the best on their journey!

In November, Eddy Pitakteeratham (Student Systems), married his lovely Elaine in Gosnells Council Park. The reception was held at the Hilton in Perth.

After the celebrations of the wonderful wedding day they took off to Japan on honeymoon, visiting Tokyo, Kyoto, Hakone, Osaka, Hiroshima, Sapporo and Noborobetsu - all in the space of two weeks!

Congratulations to the happy couple and all the best for the future.

Remember Amy Dawson the vibrant, funny red head on campus?

Amy took the plunge and got married to Jason Cleasby (Curtin Graduate) on 29 November 2008. Mr. & Mrs Cleasby celebrated their beautiful wedding at the South Perth Yacht Club.

After the wedding Mr & Mrs and baby Cleasby all flew out together for a Bali honeymoon - That's right, there is a "mini-me" in the making - another prospective student on its way.

Amy and Jason - we wish you both all the happiness and a fabulous future together. On behalf of the START team we thank you for a memorable and fun wedding party.

Other interesting information

Huge congratulations to Adrian Murdock who was runner up to WA's Rhodes Scholar and nominated candidate for the Australia-at-Large Awards. This is a very competitive process and he just missed out but got further than any Curtin student has for quite a few long years.

Adrian has just returned from Canberra after the interview process. Adrian was fortunate to meet the Governor-General Her Excellency Ms Quentin Bryce.

Curtin is very proud of Adrian's achievements.

The staff from Future Students Centre and START have been packing and unpacking their bags recently, sure hope you had a great time on your holiday.

Curtin Fundraiser - movie 'Australia'

Association for the Blind - Guide Dogs WA

Curtin students, staff and friends enjoyed a night at the movies helping to raise money for the Association for the Blind of WA - Guide Dogs. The amazing total of $1500 was raised on the night. Thanks to everyone who bought movie and raffle tickets to support this worthy cause.

Giving - The true meaning of Christmas

Merry Christmas

Parkerville Childrens' Home wishes to thank the staff from Facilities Management, Properties and Financial Services, Curtin who donated 50 Christmas presents for the children. This year, instead of participating in a secret Santa, the staff in Financial Services thought they would prefer to donate to the children at Parkerville. The presents will be given to the children at their Christmas party.

Farewell - fundraiser

After 12 years at Curtin, Rita Leon decided to head off to QLD with Andy Crellin (her now fiance) for a sea change.

CBS Student Services thought they would give Rita a novelty send off so they decided to dress up for Halloween and to take up a collection for charity.

Their selected charity was the Guide Dog WA (in honour of Saxon's fine work keeping Paul in line). A total of $391.80 was raised.

Sincere thanks to all staff and students who donated, as well as those who came along to enjoy the unusual sights!
